== THIS WEEK ==

As the year's end approaches we thought there's still time for lead
marshal Roggie to squeeze in a 12 mile LONDON FRIDAY NIGHT SKATE
heading south of the river to Lambeth Palace and the newly resurfaced
The Cut, before heading back up north to Hoxton Square for a half time
stop. The way home will take in the downhill from Islington to Kings
Cross before heading back to the park.

SATURDAY will see the annual SANTASKATE. This is a paid event which
raises funds for the London street skates. Tickets are just £10 and
include a Santa costume - or wear your own costume if you already have
St Nick in your dressing up box, but you still have to pay to play.

The start is 4:45pm at Wellington Arch (the LFNS start point) but if
you need to collect a suit you must do that beforehand: get them
between 2pm and 4pm at the Victoria Pub, Strathearn Place.

The route for this week's SUNDAY STROLL is either a marvel of
geometry, or the colouring in of a particularly uncoordinated goat,
depending on how you like your art. The route is short, sweet and
fairly smooth with half time just off Marylebone High Street.

This is where it gets complicated, though: if the SANTASKATE is
cancelled due to e.g. the wrong kind of snow (any kind of snow) it
will run at Sunday 2pm instead, to accommodate visitors from abroad
who have to fly back on Sunday evening. This would mean no Stroll, as
we (and probably, most of you) will be ho-ho-hoing our way down Oxford
Street. If we have to cancel the Stroll, we'll let you know on the
website. If that leaves you at a loose end on Sunday, you can always
turn out to cheer - and tell us what you want for Christmas. Perhaps
someone will even let you sit on their knee.

== CHRISTMAS IS COMING, THE GEESE ARE GETTING FAST ==

Traditionally this is the season to run a "what to buy skaters for
Christmas" article, but we think we did all the really bad puns last
year already. Suggestions have included MPC Storm Surge wheels (great
for skating in the rain), some better weather (because it's not that
great skating in the rain anyway), 110mm frames (vote from the
speedskaters there), new tarmac along the rest of Oxford St (thank
you, Santa, for repairing the road at the bottom of Regent St) and more
beer. And the Firebrox says it would like some Underworld tickets and
a pair of new brake shoes.

== YEAR ON WHEELS ==

This FRIDAY is the last ever London Friday Night Skate in 2007; SUNDAY
is the final Sunday Stroll. And SATURDAY is the one and only Santa
Skate, of course.

If they're not rained off. If it feels like every skate this season
has been rained off: well, we ran the numbers: 69 went ahead, 21
rained off, two still to happen. Among the skates that did happen: the
Bunny Stroll, the three hour Long Good Friday Night Skate, the one-way
trip to Greenwich, and the 18 mile Circle Line skate. You might also
have seen some of the 15 new faces called to the Order of the Yellow
Vest, and the three new marshals who've started leading skates this
year. And you've probably read some or all of the 50 issues of Week on
Wheels (including this one).

Normal service will resume in January when we've slept off the hangovers:
exact timings depend on who's getting back from what when, but we'll let
you know next year.
